Hi everyone,
I'm currently learning Linux as a beginner. I've installed Novel Suse Linux (DVD version). I've got the internet up and running with my new laptop and a wireless router. I'm working from video training cd's that I bought from www.cbtnuggets.com.
So far it seems really good and informative.
However I'm trying to get my basic system up and running, such as getting my computer to do the normal things that it would do using windows, such as playing videos and being able to install programs etc.
So far I know how to install programs. However I've run into problems installing the Mozilla Suite for the composer. It seem to have a dependency called, "libgtk-1.2.so.0"- whatever this is- a library of some sort.
I've done a web search for this and the closest thing I've found is rpm files such as, gtk-1.2.10-885.i586.rpm - which don't seem to help.
This is the actual error that's come up:
."/mozilla-installer-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
I've tried removing firefox completely from my system, but this still doesn't install. Can anyone help?
Since there's probably a few people out there who are beginning linux, I thought that this topic would be relevant and the answer would be helpful for other people too.
Regards,
James
