Hi James,
Since you are using Suse Linux, you have the advantage of using YAST. Yast is the best software management tool that I have ever come across.
All you need to is run yast. To install software/libraries do the followings:
- Run Yast (Alt+F2 and the type in yast and enter)
- If you are running as normal user then it will prompt you to enter password for
root user; if so enter root password.
- Click on Software Management
- Type in the software/library that you want to install and enter Here you have the
matching entries listed in right side
Also note that by default you have few
installation source added where the software/library can be searched. Depending upon your SUSE version you may want to add an online installation source in case it is not present.
