PHP parsed in html files - a brief howto for all those sweating on this .htaccess problem

I love php! - I once used only CGI - SSI - now i switch to php SSI
Now it is working ... it took me many attempts - each time hours of Goggling and searching, now by inspiration I found my problem which may be the same as many others ...
How to to parse php includes in a regular HTML files without changing the .html file type to .phtml or .php
the solution is simple - check your .htaccess and see if you have another line like:
Simple solution for parsing PHP in HTML - first remove old stuff from CGI - SSI in your .htaccess
AddHandler server-parsed htm html xhtml shtml
which normally is used for cgi includes - that's what I used since last millennium for SSI and I always ported it from host to host ...
the two configurations appear to oppose and neutralize each other
hence
either SSI by cgi ( perl )
OR
SSI by php
in the case of php I used the option offered by 1and1.com FAQ to add the line:
AddType x-mapp-php4 .html .htm
in my .htaccess file and REMOVED the line:
AddHandler server-parsed htm html xhtml shtml
but what if you have some CGI SSI and want only in a few folders or sub-folders to use php SSI ??
then you put into the .htaccess of that folder with .html files using php-SSI the following line
removeHandler server-parsed htm html xhtml shtml
the VERY same line you have in your domain root .htaccess or in any .htaccess HIGHER than the folder you want to use php in HTML files
this removeHandler - line stops the command given in a higher level .htaccess to free apache for php SSI !
