Arriving by Air can be either by ITI or SEAIR. The airport is a true provincial airport - simple, friendly and tropical. After arriving and disembarking your aircraft - wait a few minutes until your luggage is unloaded and available.
The onward transport by trike usually takes another few minutes to wait - why ? The trikes to pick up newly arrived passengers have to drive along or partially ON the air strip to pick up passengers, hence they have to wait until the aircraft either has departed again or until the air strip is cleared by all aircrafts. Usually it may take some 10-20 minutes.
Now you get your private trike - 2 passengers maximum for most types of local trikes - about 4 US$ flat rate to take you into El Nido.
If you have reservations - may be a car or mini-van is awaiting you. If you arrive without reservations, either you get into town and then search for a suitable cottage or you ask your trike driver to bring you to some nice beach cottages. Typically a beach cottage is in the range of 10-20 US$ - 10 being for most simple ones - 20 US$ for decent and clean cottages but without aircon.
Check in is 1 hours before departure - travel from El Nido to the airport takes about 30 minutes. Check in is fast and friendly - baggage allowance is 10 kg for SEAIR and 15 kg for ITI - check with your travel agent to make sure you are within safe limits.
Reconfirm your return flight to Manila at least 1 day before departure. During rainy season if you have an international flight to catch in Manila - remember that during an actual Taifun in your region flights can be canceled for security reasons for up to 2-3 days during a Taifun! Taifuns are announced in TV - watch. We have at least about 2 Taifuns/months during rainy season - June - early December.
If you prefer to depart from Puerto Princessa - busses drive daily from El Nido to Puerto Princessa. A bus takes about 8 hrs. Busses are narrow, uncomfortable and certainly tiring. From Puerto Princessa you have a number of national airlines flying to Manila.
