In Africa i was working once for the organization first in a small team then mostly all alone - by that time searching for missing persons. Officially there have been neither prisoners of war nor political detainees by that government. But family members reported missing persons.
With an official permit that allowed me access to all country and all facilities of any kind within that country i searched, asked around and searched. I had no training for that particular job. So i did what i thought and how i thought it should be done. And of course officially there was no one ever missing or detained. That was the reason why the authorities gave the permit - they knew there was no one to find.
Except the family members reported missing persons to me.
After many thousands of kilometers travel and visits in many prisons - that one year i made a total of about 50'000 km most on dirt road, much alone - i followed hints received and ...
found a big factory hall full of political detainees - at home in the provincial capital. All held just for one reason - NO REASON ! Just because the authorities disliked them for no particular reason at all. All were living on hard concrete, in one big hall - approximately 350 persons, may be 2 or 3 sqm per person and no windows or fresh air, locked in worse than in a prison. They all have been there for many weeks or months.
All personal data needed to be collected and written in a report. To be freed asap.
The essence - politicians lie like hell whenever it is for their benefit or profit. So far i found but 2 truly loving politicians on this planet - there might be more hidden somewhere - 2 politicians who really care for their people and truly love their people - the royal majesty and his family of Thailand and King Norodom Sihanouk from Cambodia. Both these royal highnesses have a golden loving heart for all - including the poorest ones - and love is all the reason they do their jobs for their people. As a result they are truly loved by most of their countrymen.
