Hi Srini,
I would like to share my experience of being able to sense and experience metaphysical energy. You should be able to experience it within minutes.
I don't think it is necessary to be able to feel it for your spiritual progress, and you shouldn't use it as a measure, or spend time worrying about it. Remember everything that you need on your path of love is already written here in the cyberspace ashram.
However, I would like to share a technique that enabled me to taste a small drop of Gods love, which was like a box of chocolates for my heart. It really helped me to open up my heart towards God and experience his love and energy. This is what hooked me and got me into spirituality and wanting to return home to God.
So here goes, a mini course on how to experience energy just for fun and to satisfy your curiosity.
1.) Hold you hands apart and imagine that you are holding a basket ball... and actually feel it between your palms for about 30 seconds.
2.) Now move your hands further apart and now imagine holding a beach ball. Actually feel it... and be aware of it in your hands... for about 30 seconds.
3.) Now slowly move your hands closer together and feel an orange or apple in between your hands for about 30 seconds. Imagine it. Remember to actually FEEL it. Practice this.
4.) Repeat these in different variations.
5.) Then with your hands wide apart start bringing them closer together really slowly. You can do it with your eyes shut if you want. And then move them apart... and repeat several times. See if you can feel any magnetism or energy.
You see, the idea here is that awareness is energy, and energy is awareness.
To experience metaphysical energy with your fingertips you need to become aware of your fingertips. That means being able to feel the blood flow in your fingertips.
There are many ways to experience this.
One method is to bounce up and down whilst shaking your hands vigorously. After this you can feel the blood in your hands and fingertips. I wouldn't do this on the train though.
Then stand still and wave your hands up and then down rhythmically so that you can FEEL the air blowing with the palms of your hands and fingers. Now you are actually 'sensing' the air and awareness of the energy or blood in your hands and fingertips. Wave your hands up and wave your hands down. You can do this in sync with your breath- slowly and rhythmically. Sense the air and FEEL it. Know how it feels with your palms and fingers. While you're doing this wiggle each finger one by one and focus your awareness on it.
And then sit down and hold your hands up above shoulders, and for each fingertip give it a wiggle and say, "Oh God my heart is open to you, please come sit in my heart"- Repeat this for each fingertip for about 40 times.
And then just mediate on the mantra with awareness of your fingertips asking God into your heart and suck Gods energy through your fingertips. You will be able to feel a tingling sensation, heat or energy in your fingertips and palms as you draw Gods energy in through your finger tips. This is best done outside in nature, because this technique connects you to God through nature, through the elements. Your five fingers connect you to the five elements. The elements can purify you because God is in the elements.
Obviously this is beginner stuff, and techniques like kriya yoga are adult stuff. But remember why do you think Hans spends most of his time in nature, in the sun, in the water, in the open air? Because God is in the elements and nature helps purify.
Now when I'm stressed or have absorbed too much negativity form other people, I can go to a plant and decharge my negativity and excess energy into it - the same way. Just point your fingers at the plant or nature or in water, or around a camp fire and say, "Oh God my heart is open to... please come... decharge this negative energy." It feels good to burn, wash away or pull out your negative energy. It purifies.
And by the way, it's not bad for the plant. Energy is just energy for the plant. The plant likes it and uses the energy in a good way.
Take care and have fun,
James
