Many months ago in the Philippines I needed leeches and ordered some, but never got leeches for my patient. Now in one of my preferred lotus ponds during an entire morning lasting photo session I got some for free. I never have used leeches on my own body, I never had any need. But I am always curious and willing to test any medicine I apply on others on my body as well.

People should learn again to make medical use of leeches.

As I waded thru a deep and this time rather clean lotus pond outside Siem Reap, I apparently have accumulated several leeches as I figured out later during the working day. After a few hours of lotus photo session in this lotus pond, I returned to my Tuk Tuk and my driver came running toward me. No idea why, because he seldom if at all runs. Approaching me, he looked down to my legs, me too ... And my driver was panicky because he saw that I had - totally unnoticed until now - about 5 or 6 leeches around my legs and some blood gently flowing down the legs.

I explained him that this is medicine, free medicine for infections, for inflammation, for detoxification of body and infected body parts and much more. Free medicine made by God for free use by all!

He took all my leeches away and then it started to bleed even more for a few hours. Leeches inject an anticoagulant to allow them to suck / swallow blood until they are full or "until job done". By the time leeches have their job done, normally all the anticoagulant originally injected into human body also is reabsorbed again by the leeches. Only if you forcefully and prematurely remove leeches you have an ongoing VERY weak bleeding that eventually stops after an hour or two, rarely later.

Since a VERY long time, leeches are known for alternate medical purpose and used in many cultures including Asia and Europe.

So next time you see leeches or even better when you have leeches on your body. Think twice before you consider leeches a pest or danger. May be just you need that free treatment for your body detoxification or just to stimulate your body immune system.
