Motodop - how to get picked up by a Moto in Cambodia. Motodop as a common local transportation system by private motorcycle.
If you walk the streets in Cambodia, you'll see often dozens of small motorcycles - mostly in the range of 80cc. Most parked and here and then you'll see a young man sitting on a motorcycle asking you "motorcycle?" in his limited but most loving and friendly english.

That is the time to get "picked up" for a TAXI ride by the nations most recent transportation system - Motodop! Many private motorcycle owners earn a small side income serving in free hours as motor cycle taxi. One passenger on the back seat of his typically small - usually 80cc - motorcycle. Fee is to be agreed upon, but always very affordable if you use your heart to "fix" the price you want to offer. Hence up to you to upgrade the fare to allow him to make a decent living serving you.
In many cases and times this private Motodop transportation may be the only transportation available. Just hold onto the driver and enjoy the private service. Cambodian are friendly and careful / slow and safe drivers.
One day in Kampot, sometime in afternoon on my way back from coffee and cake a man on a motorcycle stopped and introduced himself - as an elementary school teacher off-hours, making some additional income as a Motodop driver ... He offered me his services as Motodop taxi. Another day in Kompong Som / Sihanoukville just after breakfast, my breakfast water apparently had a break and took his motorcycle to drive away. When I walked by, he asked where I planned to go. My plan that day was Otres Beach to make some photos and wallpaper from the beach back to Sihanoukville. Hearing my plan, he instantly offered me a ride there ... and thus I got a ride on his small motorbike all along the beach road to my destination. Motorcycle taxis are flexible, affordable and of course far more environment friendly than Tuk Tuk or car taxi.
That is creative thinking instead of complaining about missing revenue. May be in your own country there are other similar revenue sources as well. I know that in the Philippines we have some motorcycle taxis - illegal, but most friendly and widely used by people who need an affordable transportation home late night after night shift working hours.
But what to do if no one asks you "motorcycle"? Quite simple then you ask "motorcycle ?" when you see a man sitting on one or standing next to a motorcycle you belief may be his. He may be just a guardian angel sent by God waiting for you ... to pick you up and deliver you at the destination of your choice.
Opportunities in life are all over your own life, you just have to open your mind AND heart and see the opportunities offered to you by God!

The easiest and most environment and health friendly transportation for longer distances however is the bicycle. Motorcycles belong to the parking lot like here on the photo below and a simple bicycle brings you healthy to your destination.
Love and Bliss
