Use SEO tools but above all use common sense and know what you do when optimizing your site. The goal if this article is to teach you how to understand the basic Google algorithm yourself without the help of others. As a professional you have to know your work. As a true professional web publisher promoting either your site's unique content or the products and services of your business you should be as free and independent of outer resources as possible. Learn your trade and be flexible to adapt instantly to future changes in the Search Engine's indexing and ranking parameters.

Search engines progress faster than ever before. The reason is an increasing attempt to cheat the system by many site owners willing to do anything to make easy money with minimum efforts.

To maintain a high quality search result index, all major Search Engines are challenged to use other than simple backlink numbers. While today I could give you a pretty accurate detailed report on how to rank top 10 or as high as possible with reasonable investment of primarly time and efforts and only minimum amounts of money. Those details may be outdated inn a few months or years.

Hence instead of giving you an easy copy and paste solution, I give you brainfood to supply your own common sense with data that might allow you to stay ahead of all lazy ones eager to earn without sweating.

As you may have noticed. I love hard working sweating people willing to get wet and dirty, work hours and all night long if needed until job done. I love strong ones. By working more and harder you too eventually get strong and strong means FREE. Free from dependency from financial support or support by others. Free to enjoy life on your own.

Here the "secret" to learn and know how Google and other major SE rank pages

First one minor warning: There might be other non-visible data such as an unknown number of backlinks or backlink quality that might affect the final rankings. Also the age of a site and may be some sort of reputation factor derived from what type of sites are linking to your site might affect results. Of course a site that received inbound links from government sites or university sites or large industrial sites might easily be considered an authority site. Also a site with a specific topic and publishing activity in that topic for many ears beyond 10 years or so and quantities of pages - pages finally selected by SE users - might affect your success in SE ranking as well.

However as published much earlier - it is your duty to find a content of life you truly love, a content of life you are willing to die for. A content of such extreme value you are willing to devote an entire lifetime with all your heart, body and soul!

If you are just a beginner, then you may have little options but first of all to work hard, to create, to study, to publish, many dozens of pages each months, better hundreds of new content pages. Hundreds or thousands of pages each year. Content in demand, content meeting a real need for Search Engine users. Above all high quality unique content! Be willing to become an expert, be a leader rather than a copier or follower!

After a while you eventually will have one or more pages ranking in a top position. If not then use Google and use YOUR major topic's keyword and a combination thereof. SEARCH Google and keep each result in a separate window or tab in your Firefox browser. Forget about IE browser! use Firefox with its many plugins, add-ons and tools specially for site owners and site developers!!

Assuming you have NO top 1-3 ranked page in a high competition area. High competition meaning some 30-50 Millions or MORE of OTHER pages competing with you with the same keyword. Then you take any other high competition keyword / product area and make a search for the purpose of our own self-study of Google algorithm. The same of course also applies to other search engines. But frankly most other SE have no other choice but to get near Google else they are totally out of business. The only "other" search engine that is different and brings at least some decent traffic is ask.com.

Let's do the home work starting all below keywords, each search result in a separate browser tab. Configure your Google search preferences in Firefox to display 100 result per page!

Keywords to use in our study:

• algorithm
• mountains
• sport
• love
• car parts
• scuba equipment
• airline tickets
• cheap hotels
• beach house

From results where ONE site has a double result - ALWAYS take ONLY the first of the 2 results, NEVER the second result. The second result from any site having double results ALWAYS is a bonus result from Google. That second displayed result may be FAR down its natural Google ranking and in no way useful for our SEO study!

You may get different Google top sites displayed than me or others, depending on your country and the local results Google displays for that country. But after reviewing all of the above keywords, you'll see how the top 3 pages and the additional pages are edited:

1. Look at the keyword density of your verified pages.
2. DELETE or IGNORE all those results that are totally off range of all others. Some pages may have bonus from Google for extreme hight number of quality backlinks, age or for being an authority site. Look at "normal sites" avoid Wikipedia or other sites as your own reference.

Now you will see an average range for keyword density for the top 3 results you verified ( less the ignored sites ) and you compare those keyword density values in % with those additional results from lower rankings to see the difference in keyword density. and to see which density most likely gets you into the TOP of the rankings.

Avoid unethical methods - Stay clean in your heart!

Avoid spying on your direct competitors !! That is foul play and ultimately sometimes later in life ALWAYS leads to YOUR failure! But you may learn from Google and from Google results by studying OTHER niches. Better even. If for example in your own niche of publishing keywords you would have a few hundred thousand or very few Million competing pages, then the results you would obtain from spying on your competitors are of NO value at all to you. Because a few Million pages is NO real competition at all.

Choose high competition niches with More than half a Billion completing pages to learn SEO factors

If you want to know or better understand the full SE ranking algorithm, then you need to look at highest competition keyword areas. How do people get into TOP 10 rankings with Google if they have 500'000'000 or even MORE than a Billion completing pages? Those top results may look totally different in your keyword density tool. A FEW of the top 10 ranked pages may simply be very old and thus have hundred thousands of generic backlinks. A few other sites however may have worked their way UP simply by working hard, by producing lots of high quality content AND by using a generic editor's style with the most ideal keyword density range in addition to usesing all other free SEO methods such as RSS feeds, etc to promote a site.

Never assume that all top 3 results from a 500'000 competing pages keyword are correct in SEO. BETTER assume that they are LESS wrong than all lower ranked pages. When looking at (near) perfectly optimized pages, then always look at those pages ranking TOP 10 or TOP 20 among a Billion or more competing pages!

From such real TOP ranked high competition pages YOU NEED to derive your ideal keyword density percentages and adapt your own editing style.

When looking at the TOP 10 ranked pages in HIGH competition markets, also look at the few lines Google displays in their results. Those lines usually are from meta tags title, and description. How is the keyword density in the title tag and how is the keyword density in the description tag ? Learn only from top 10-20 results in HIGH competition keyword markets with half a Billion or more resulting pages. The market is growing, so does your competition and you may be the only one left asleep on old achievements. Always ignore results that are completely OUT of all density or display normalities compared to other top ranked pages. Such abnormalities may have been achieved with non-SEO methods, authority site, extreme popularity resulting in extreme backlink numbers out of our range of honest web publishing.
