Anchor text optimization: How to find ideal anchor texts for your link building on-site and to remote friend sites

Anchor texts irrelevant to a sites near top positions in search engines are of no value at all. You should choose either a keyword combination from the official page title or any keyword combination that brings that particular page into the top 20-30 positions. Then and only then your additional link may make a difference and help the targeted page.

How to find ideal anchor texts by foreign site users

So you like or even love a particular site and wish to refer to that site within your blog or within a content page. First of all, try to integrate a natural piece of text into your phrase that fits your own content as well as offers an opportunity to link to an authority site or friend site without interfering with your editorial style.

You have a topic in mind about which you are writing in your blog or social network blog. You also know which site you would love to refer to. In this case you may chose a few keywords from your own edited text and use Google's site-search feature. I explain the use of a google search within a specific website (site:)

With the "site:" feature you can search your keyword combination or part of an entire keyphrase for a best match on any particular site. I give you a precise example. In the following phrase I want to integrate 2 links to the Cyberspace Ashram www.kriyayoga.com:

If you want to loose your fear of death, you will have to understand that death as door to God obviously must be a door to a world of love. To learn about God requires to learn about death.

We have 2 keyword combination we want to link to a friend or authority site:

1. death as door to God
2. learn about death

This 2 keyword combinations can now be used to find the best matching page on our friend site using the following Google search syntax:

• death as door to God site:kriyayoga.com
• learn about death site:kriyayoga.com

This search restricts Google to only search the web site following the "site:". In this case my own site. YES, I also use this search syntax on my own site to promote individual pages when I know to have several pages about an important topic and want Google to speed up my own editorial work and give me an instant list of known pages relevant to the keywords I want to use inside my new text.

Finding anchor texts by the site owners

Look at your access_log statistics, section keywords. The see what keyword combinations are important to you. Google on a virgin browser, cache and cookies empties, logout from Google if Google toolbar installed!

Note that it makes absolutely no sense at all to rank high in keyword combinations no one ever is using. To guide users toward your page you need to research user trends and focus on precisely those keywords that attract high generic traffic.

We all only can get as much as we give. To continue to enjoy free online services that someone else - the site owners - create with hundred thousands of dollars investment or more - may certainly justify our all contribution of a little work now and then to promote the services we love or need in our daily life.
