Coron island travel tips and beautiful island sceneries

Coron island travel tips and beautiful island sceneries

From Coron city to Coron island by boat

The easiest way to get to Coron island is to hire your own private boat. However if you are on budget travel, you may find group travel arrangements to do the same much cheaper. A private boat just for you alone may range from 35 US$ for smallest boats to 55 US$ for medium size boats. I chose a medium size boat for me alone. There is a precise reason for such choice. My trip was entirely focused on photography. I was looking around in the above harbor. The smallest boat a captain offered me to hire, was dancing like wild even in small waves ... While the medium size boat was quiet and stable. Hence as a photographer in a wild dancing boat it is almost impossible to make steady shots of nature scenery. There are but a very few locations where you can actually leave the boat and go ashore. Most of all pictures have to be made from a stable boat. The medium size boat was good enough for 6 passengers and had an 18 HP diesel engine.

The main reason to visit Busuanga island usually is to finally stay or at least visit and explore one or several of the beautiful islands outside Busuanga island. One very unique island next to Coron city is Coron island. A "young" island with very unique rocky island vegetation and beautiful crystal clear lagoons with turquoise and blue colors.

Coron island has a very young volcanic rock basis - young because there still is no real soil, just volcanic rock slowly eroding and rocky island vegetation. It may take another several ten thousands of more years until Coron island has matured and evolved into a real "grown up" island with lush tropical island vegetation.

A few locations allow you to go ashore. Small beaches for your lunch or small lagoons for a swim from shore. One of the "must see" is at least one of the island's fresh water lakes!

The coral reefs start just below the water surface. You may want to take snorkeling equipment along to enjoy the UW world as much as the topside Coron island nature sceneries.

Coron island has one of Philippines cleanest fresh water lake - Kayangan lake. With water temperature around 30+ C, and schools of small needle fish and ideal place for a swim!

If you plan a half day trip to Coron island you may see enough and still make sure to return home to base without sunburn. A good time to leave harbor for Coron island is around 0800 morning and you may return to Coron city harbor around noon or very early afternoon. Of course you may plan a full day trip with extensive swimming or snorkeling - take drinking water along, Coron island has NO restaurant, NO drinks - NO food - just beautiful nature on beautiful islands.
