Driving downhill from Baguio City to Bauang La Union thru the high altitude mountains surrounding Baguio City and down the hills into the plain - from high altitude climate to tropical climate in less than 50 km and less than 2 hrs by car

Yesterday it was raining in Baguio all day until early morning today -
it was time to go downhill for me
back to La Union.

From Baguio at an altitude of 1500 to nearly 2000 meters above sea
level with its high altitude climate down to ocean level it's only about
50 km.

I left early afternoon by car - sunny up - then while going down we went
into the clouds. as a result of the strong and lasting rain, the jungle
was steaming and thus we had to drive down thru the clouds of steam.
thousands of large yellow flowers, almost like small sunflowers all
over - again and again both sides of the road - all together millions
for more than 10 kilometers of driving downhill.

then a blend of the last altitude vegetation and the first tropical
vegetation ...

and the first rice fields down in the valley a few kilometers before
Naguilian.

the hills were getting softer and the air warmer

i asked the driver to make a few photo stops .. so he did and i have
some photos for you

the driver started to drive a little racing style in the many curves and
i reminded him that i just had breakfast ...
he understood ;-)
and kept his car clean and safe ....
there was no immediate threat - but i had some memory of one trip up
after a heavy breakfast and i was holding an empty plastic bag most of
the time - keeping it empty.

around 16:00 hrs we arrived at Bali Hai - back "home" again
time to start working full time - surprises were waiting for me
and more may be coming these days
