Generosity and web design - a key to success as webmaster is to be generous in your online services offered - generous means giving in abundance what you promise or offer on your site

Generous means give in abundance what makes others happy vs stinginess - in web design or as web publisher generosity means that whatever you offer - offer in abundance.

People are picky, people love to select from a large choice - example if you offer pictures - offer them by the hundreds but in top quality. people love to get everything for free, but they still expect freebies to be top quality of same level like the most expensive items available for money.

For photographers generosity means

• use top equipment producing high resolution,n high quality images
• use best lenses and never cheap no name substitutes - for DSLR best normally would be CarlZeiss even if a simple AF85CK may cost 1300 US$ vs 200-300 $ for cheap no names! - if you can't afford - work harder until you can

for wallpaper publishers generosity means on every page ONE category only but in large numbers of best possible quality. never offer wallpaper pages with 10-20 pictures only. keep in mind that what you consider beautiful may only appeal to a few % of others. Hence create pages with 30-50 wallpapers per page.

for a thumbnail format generosity means: avoid these tiny little thumbnails and give your site visitors at least 140 or 180 px as a minimum size. Modern Internet user have mostly fast broadband.

for compression of photos - generosity means avoid more than 85% compression. while a 50% compression of a jpg format may result in much smaller file size per picture, it also takes away all the potential beauty.

the same applies of course to any kind of photo publishing including eCards. people need a huge choice of high quality pics to find at least one that is suitable for their taste or expectations. above all we all have to learn to offer what others really love and never what we want others to compromise for.

there should be absolutely NO compromise in life - a truly loving person always can create and offer in abundance to fully satisfy those people who want to be loved by you.

generosity in information or technical howto also means that you provide details, photos or graphic documentation where available and that you take sufficient time to give all details in full to avoid the need for further clarification or questions.

learn to be a provider of a full solution. specialize in an area of professional services or products and learn to be really good. get feedback and adjust where needed.

feedback is needed to control quality. let's look at one example - my wallpapers for example are a high volume high traffic sub-section of the Cyberspace Ashram. of course i check every now and then exactly what people do when they find one of the many wallpaper pages.

to have one number of visitors - lets say 1000 for a particular page is one thing ... BUT how many of the site visitors are actually downloading a full size wallpaper is an even much more important factor. it may never be possible to satisfy on a single page or single web site all needs and all tastes or preferences / likes of all arriving surfers, BUT you need at least a high percentage of site viewers who actually download one or several or many full size wallpapers to know that they found on your pages what they were looking for.

if you see that every second or third person downloads up to a half a dozen wallpapers - then you know that you meed the demand and needs of at least one small consumer group of God's creation and then you know that all efforts and investment you ever made into the production of those pages was worth every cent and every minute of your life.

to get such refined detail-feedback you need to get a professional quality web site statistic program, such as "angolizer" i use since years - before a previous version of it - webalizer - now its modified upgraded angolizer version. there might be other comparable software available and many nowadays prefer Google analytics - however analytics is absolutely NO match for a true professional who invests his life into a web project. you need much more and much better details than what analytics offers. above all you need to have all data and all raw log files in your own laptop to get the MOST out of every logfile.

remember:

the generosity you display and practice in your web project is directly proportional to the true love you have for others. while love never can be measured by counters - web projects can be measured in bits, bytes, hits and many other means - to give YOU detailed feedback about your progress in learning to love and learning to make your own partner happy.

it's all about love - even the sharing of information or the satisfying of needs by producing wallpapers, eCards, howtos, travel documentations or reviews. look at your web site and figure yourself out what your own situation of love is - well structured, huge, growing, dynamic, expanding, improving, colorful, well assorted, well linked, well optimized to be found ...

you only should be your own judge - because some of you may suddenly kick their own ass harder than any other ever would be allowed. you have to know what you want - love and happiness or deception, loneliness and failure ???
