Based on the previous article on keyword tool accuracy - here the continuation of the same page realted to traffic based on ranking of a page. Often in professional webmaster forums I see people being happy to have one page in the top 20 or top 10 ... One page is like one toe of one foot. Can you live, walk, work and enjoy life with a single toe and a single leg ??

My understanding of fun is different. God created abundance - out of this abundance we have abundant ideas to enjoy an infinite creativity and productivity. To truly enjoy creativity, productivity and thus also to enjoy hard work you need feedback - just like in love life - to love, to give love is only fun if you know the recipients truly enjoy love. Hence one way to get feedback is by the number of visitors to individual pages and to your entire site. To publish if thousands of ten thousands of people enjoy what you offer is like cooking and having dozens of friends enjoying your delicious meals!

On the same keyword pair related to the current season - I enjoy a double result - in Google USA a #1 and #2 - and curious like I am, I wanted to have exact data how many people click on top 1 Google position vs my top 2 Google position.

Here the results from 17. Dec 2007:

1. 3673 unique visitors from Google on the #1 result and only
2. 795 unique visitors from Google on the #2 result

That means I get almost 5 times more visitors for a top 1 ranked page vs a page ranked top 2 position in Google!!! To give you a rough idea how I got that double 1/2 SERPS:

The #1 page is the result of MANY years work, costing me thousands of dollars - and directly related to that page's success are several hundred files - all self created during the course of many years.

Another example I experienced a few years ago to give you an idea between having a page 1 and page 2 result on Google search results. A default search result page displays 10 results - I have changed my settings and get 50 or 100 results on one page. That saves me time and thus resources.

On a very high traffic all year popular page I had at the beginning a #9 or #10 result in Google, hence a result displayed typically on page 1 of the search results - then a while later that page dropped to #11 - thus typically on page 2 of the search results.

The day the results dropped from page 1 to page 2 - my traffic dropped to about 10% of its earlier daily traffic.

Conclusion:

The very least you have to achieve is a top 10 / page 1 result in any search engine that drives generic traffic to your site! Once you are on page 1 - fight for every additional position you can climb up the ladder toward a #1 position.

Obviously such is impossible if copying others, if using high paying keywords is all you have in mind to get quick easy money. If however you do with all your heart and soul - with love and God's bliss what you do, then you are ready to work harder than the rest of this world until you have the position proportional to your global expertise. Never expect a top 1 results if you are just copying or imitating other people's successful sites. Learn first of all to become a true expert. This may take many decades of most active, continuously learning professional life. One day you feel that more people are asking you than you ask others for advice. Those days you also feel and know that you are doing really well, that you know what you are doing and know how to be useful and helpful for others. That day you may have accumulated around one single topic a number of pages and graphics or photos - may be dozens or hundreds and one day you decide now it is time to take the position you have earned - may be a top 1 SERPS in Google.

In early years of your web publishing - you may now and then have a top 1 or top 10 position, specially in a language other than english or a very specialized topic or in technical howtos or problem solving areas. People in general are lazy - too lazy to spend many hours or even a full day or more for one single page - hence the more complex your topics the less likely you find real competition and the easier it is to get into top 10 SERPS of all major search engines.

True success always is the result of qualified and hard work - if working over years and decades sounds fun to you - then being successful might be a very special gift that appears on the horizon of your life one day.
