Hotel Swiss Chalet comfort of living of owner's employees - rich owner poor employees, Hans Hofmann's wealth at the expense of Hotel and Restaurant staff
Below pictures show a glimpse at the living comfort, neighborhood and standard of living affordable by heavily underpaid Swiss Chalet Hotel / Restaurant staff and recently sacked employees. In this neighborhood more other Swiss Chalet Hotel/Restaurant employees are living. Poverty created by the power of greed by business owners - a common reason for poverty by Millions in the Philippines as well as in many other countries.

While Hotel owner Hans Hofmann ( and family ) enjoy annual vacation in Thailand and / or Switzerland - his employees barely can call their living human. Have a look at the small housing. Each of the 3 families has a home of approximately 4x4 to max 5x5 meters total area for the entire family. The entire neighboorhood is similar. Next the the area - may be some 30-40 meters away an unofficial trash dump area down into the nearby riverbed dry during this season.
A business owner with a total annual business gross income of approximately 30 Million to 40 Million PHP ( 750'000-1'000'000 Million US$ ) who fails to pay even the very low minimum salary fixed by the law - just out of pure greed ...... It very definitely is much better to expand and grow slower in business but to always grow all together. To grow by sharing wealth honestly among all contributing to the growth of a business. No business in this world, no hotel, no restaurant, no factory ever could compete or prosper to such level as this Hotel / Restaurant without the dozens of employees. Without employees a Restaurant or Hotel is a tiny family business for a few guest or friends but never a business receiving in Restaurant and Hotel some 30'000 to 50'000 guests total each year for breakfast, lunch, diner or accommodation.
How can such a business owner ever be truly happy in his own life, if he goes day after day to bed knowing well that all of his employees have financial problems, lack proper food each day, lack money for health care and proper school or professional education for children, family members or self. Even less money for a vacation .... Ruthlessness often leads to short sightness in life. Rich see but their own ever growing needs and the less happiness the rich ones experience the more gadgets and toys in life they may need to compensate for true love in life.
In such cases as this Swiss Chalet case - it is quiet safe to say that most of the business expansion and most of the living comfort and vacation are paid directly from money withhold months after months from all the underpaid staff. Wealth and comfortable life in luxury at the direct expense of even most basic simple life of his employees!This situation is no exception in the Philippines and in many other countries such as India, China, Haiti, Central and South America and entire Africa. There are far more than ONE Billion people living as above and a few hundred Million even worst. The fact that hundreds of Millions are abused and exploited by rich ones however is neither a justification nor an excuse for such exploitation. All humans are made by God, all humans are made to love and to be loved. All humans are to be treated with dignity and love - by all!
It certainly is much easier for hard working poor ones such as the 3 sacked Swiss Chalet Restaurant employees to find open doors to God than it will be for the Hotel / Restaurant owner. There is no place for greed and selfishness at home in God and here and now on earth is the place to learn all those most basic lessons to love each other and to treat each other with dignity and love.
What can we all do to avoid such exploitation ?
Strictly use only facilities and products that knowingly pay honest and good wages, that treat employees with dignity and love. Withdraw your patronage from any business where you know of any kind of staff abuse or staff exploitation. Withdraw your support in full from any country where you know such situations to be tolerated by the government. And finally - be always ready to pay more than minimum prices. Refrain from selecting cheapest travel, cheapest accommodation or cheapest products and services unless you are yourself willing to work for lowest salaries. Lowest salaries means less than 5-6 US $ per day. If you demand 5$ per hour, then you also should be willing to pay 5 $ per hours for any and every service or products you ever need or use in your entire life. Offer to other exactly to the cent the same amount per hour as you expect to be paid for all your work, products or services created by you.
