openSUSE 11 Linux bluetooth 3G/GPRS connection to Internet - laptop to www via smartphone on Acer TravelMate 7520G
Just as a small addition to the earlier Bluetooth configuration - here my much simplified bluetooth configuration on my new Acer TravelMate 7520G using openSUSE 11.0 to connect via my Nokia N95 to www. All connection management is better done in Kbluetooth. At some time early you should have both devices - laptop and smartphone side by side to pair them up with proper authentication. In my case first the Nokia N95 asked for the PIN - enter any PIN and seconds later the laptop Kbluetooth popped up and asked for the same PIN. If you have the same pairs / devices, then you may configure for always auto connect and thus you never have to authenticate again in future connection attempts. Bluetooth pairing is like in REAL marriage - you say YES once at the beginning and that YES is valid for absolutely anything you ever need or love and for all eternity!
mknod --mode 666 /dev/rfcomm0 c 216 0
hcitool scan
sdptool search --bdaddr 00:1E:3A:7A:AE:66 DUN | grep Channel
resulting in: Channel: 4
rfcomm connect /dev/rfcomm0 00:1E:3A:7A:AE:66 4
wvdial gprs
Once all above is setup - usually the 3 lines below should be sufficient to reconnect. Make sure you have all other network connections down to avoid confusion in your network routing.
rfcomm connect /dev/rfcomm0 00:1E:3A:7A:AE:66 4
wvdial gprs
route add default gw 10.6.6.6 ( insert here your own gateway IP from your mobile 3G network obtained from your dial up dialog output resulting from your above wvdial gprs
Enjoy mobility - enjoy an active life in freedom
God bless
