In less than than a year, Boracay's heart - the lake - changed from a natural beauty to an ugly, dirty and polluted garbage and sewage-pond

This is a brief historical photo-documentary of how Boracay's center of the island once was and how it may never be again. Photos in memory of good old times before business occupied all hearts and minds of politicians and business men. Memory of a time when true values where more important than fast short time pleasure and profits.

Once a pearl in the heart of Boracay - a small lake surrounded by lush tropical growth as well as many beautiful aquatic plants in the water. All past years this lake always has been a beauty and the heart of Boracay.

All other below photos on same date show the lake still looks clean and very pretty at this time.

The heart of Boracay starts to die under quantities of trash and pollution
September 26 2006

A total change of mind and heart of responsible persons - politicians and related investors / business men, new construction projects in the lake's neighborhood and construction-work ... the death of Boracay's heart begins. note the huge difference in color of lake and growth around and in lake just some 6 weeks after previous photos were taken. Trash and pollution starts to accumulate fast.

No heart surgery can heal or repair that damage again
Boracay's heart appears death

On my last visit May 11-15 2007 the lake - heart of Boracay - was death already. horrible pollution all over. almost all natural aquatic growth is gone. sewage, garbage and all kinds of pollution on every side of the small lake is all that is left by now.

Boracay's heart of the island has successfully been killed by careless greedy politicians, investors and businessmen. Now after all this pollution already done - it may take hundreds or thousands of years to heal such damage. The only chance for repair is to make all population disappear for a long while - like a powerful Taifun than cleans up all island or any other event powerful enough to wake up all responsible persons.

To grow or construct beautiful nature takes thousands of years and huge efforts as can be seen in the rice terraces in Banaue. To destroy an island like Boracay takes but a few months or years. One by one such environment pollution and destruction occur on our planet in many countries - always with profit in mind or nothing at all in mind - hence by mindless people - a planet that took hundreds of Millions of years to evolve like our planet earth, may be destroyed by one single generation like our mindless money oriented current generation.

Once such natural resources are destroyed - no money and no heart surgery ever can repair such man made damage and intoxication. Only time can heal - a time of thousands of years free from human beings. But where will we live during the thousands of years or rehabilitation and recovery needed by our planet ??
