Boracay without its white beach is like the ocean without its water - nothing

White Beach underwater for many hours each day.
The only "capital" this island had is underwater - at least for many hours each day during the high tide phase - several hours before high tide until several hours past high tide the once famous "white beach" goes diving and becomes part of Boracay's history ...
Like Atlantis - may be soon nothing more but memories and a few pictures from ancient times.

Beautiful White Beach - any tide, any time day and night or months, ready to accommodate thousands of guests to enjoy beach life.
How the beach develops no longer depends on investors but on God alone. The beach may recover and rebuild its sand within a few weeks or months - depending on weather conditions, waves, currents OR the beach may further erode and plunge even deeper into the ocean.
As of today it rather looks of the second option. the waves are getting closer and closer to the palm trees and beach road and it may just be a matter of hours or days until the first palm trees fall into the ocean.
Investing in Boracay at present or in the future would thus be totally wrong. Without white beach tourist most likely stay out. there are thousands of most beautiful beaches in the Philippines that have more to offer in the neighborhood than Boracay had to offer.
The entire islands tourist industry was fully based on the white beach and most of the prices "justified" only for white beach locations. prices for property white beach front where many times higher than other property. rooms near beach front same.
These days the island is near empty. may be 10% of what I encountered last year same period of the rainy season.
this factor is highly influenced by mankind. Anchoring boats, coral reef destruction by dynamiting or other artificial impact on the costal ground of ocean may change the existing depth of the ocean in costal waters.
this result has a direct impact on the next factor below
the wave length depends on global factors - wide range depth of ocean and global weather ... waves travel thousands of miles across the ocean and independent of their wave height many waves may have miles in wave length. on costal regions dozens to hundreds of meters wavelength are most common.
the critical ration wave height to length is about 1:7
a ratio of wave length greater than 1:7 results in sand shifting toward shore
a ratio of wave length smaller than 1:7 result in coastal erosion.
removing or destroying coastal reefs by repeated dropping anchor for example will allow greater waves to enter beach area and thus enlarge the number of situations of a ration smaller than 1:7 resulting in beach erosion - provided that the overall weather situation remains same as before over the years.
it is in no way a matter of meters - it is a matter of cm meters that may finally make the difference of beaches remaining intact over an extended period of time OR being reduced over a period of months or years for good.
In normal natural weather conditions and coastal conditions, depending on prevailing wind, currents and waves - during one part of the year a beach may "shrink" in size or height just to regain its normal size during the "other" part of the year. Hence rainy season and dry season may compensate each other - both with its prevailing wind directions neutralizing each other over the decades or centuries ....
unless mankind creates artificial changes in the rather stable nature factors created by God.
Beaches in paradise - alway beaches - all year long
