An entire resort area going slowly down and dieing peacefully
For many years I have enjoyed the beautiful province of La Union - and stayed mostly at Bali Hai Beach Resort - Bauang whenever in La Union - also many of my visitors stayed at this resort. Like most other resorts along the Bauang Beach from San Fernando La Union to Bauang - this resort has forgotten to improve its services and quality of services as well as to properly maintain rooms and UPGRADE to current standards of the industry.
Current standards are for a typical Hotel room of a fine Hotel - available year round at PHP 1350.- to 1650.- PHP depending on size - but such fine and state of the art rooms all having TOP room outfit ALL rooms are equal in outfit, including
- silent air-con - with digital remote control for accurate adjustment of temperature
- powerful generator to supply all resort with power in events of black out
- in room digital safe box
- large screen TV and video player
- full set of furniture - all same style
- a real mini-bar with quality content
- clean bathroom - shiny clean and hygienic
- full wireless coverage with professionally maintained wireless hotspot 24/7 in all rooms - free to use by all guests
- a clean and international level gourmet restaurant with real Chef de Cuisine assuring fine and clean food from breakfast to late night dinner for 2 or room service
- clean kitchen every guest can have a look inside - there is nothing to hide at all since all is perfectly clean - something very much missing in restaurant along Bauang Beach as much as Bali Hai Beach resort
As a result of persistently low quality services and total quality carelessness about food, beverages and overall standard offered - more and more tourists stay away this year and it appears the lowest ever occupancy during these months of high tourist season. I also decided to move out of that location and resort for good as it no longer meets current quality standards and needs by any professional nor tourist. There if far more value for price available on the global tourist market.
We all need quality to have fun in our working life - and if we need quality, someone will create and meet our all needs for quality!
While other hotels improve or renew their entire rooms, outfits, furniture and gourmet menu ... some of the out-dated resort just are left behind.
An area with little or no recreation value at all - because NO recreation offered/created by most resorts - people who are hardworking and expecting to enjoy a health value for price are disappointed and turn toward new locations or even new countries.
It is well known that Philippines have some of the highest prices in all South East Asia for food and accommodation and one of the lowest quality standards in all South East Asia as well.

Already under construction and according to information a few days ago - the new resort are of international quality level just some 7 km away from the old fashioned Bauang Beach area is scheduled to open later this first quarter. New investment opportunities for progressive investors willing to STEP UP in quality and match international competition occur whenever such major new resort projects are planned. Whenever old resorts are replaced by modern resorts - an entire industry has 2 choices. Either surrendering and closing down or stepping up and join a better business area with finer quality services and products and a elevated lifestyle.
While much of the profits may go into the already rich business of the new Casino / Resort area itself - like in Las Vegas USA ... It is also apparent that every major project of such nature and size also creates the need for dozens or hundreds of small business opportunities or family business opportunities. Hence this new location scheduled for opening later this spring may be a jump-start into a NEW and exciting business venture for dozen or hundreds of local families.
Who wants or NEEDS old outdated poor maintained resorts such as Bali Hai and its neighbors if NEW resorts with modern management and modern facilities are available at comparable prices?
Investors tip for San Fernando LU and Bauang beach
If you have any shares in any of these Bauang Beach resorts - my advice: SELL !! even if losing money - it still may be better than a full devaluation during possible bankruptcy of some of the aging resorts. WHY sell ? One of the major OWNER of several resort properties ( the resorts usually are leased from that owner ) is high age - some 90 years ... an age where natural death usually can occur any time. With 3 heirs left to eventually struggle, agree OR disagree on what is going to happen with all these many properties of a.m. resorts - it is but a question of time that an even greater investors disaster may occur. As it is quiet common among heirs of great wealth - either they decide to overtake and run one or several of the owned resort-properties on their own OR they decide to make some easy money by increasing the already TOO HIGH lease and thus killing the resorts ...
Due to severe mismanagement on many levels - political as well as resorts - the beach gradually has almost completely disappeared. Greedy resort owners grabbing another sqm of beach from the ocean and thus changing substantially the action of waves on beaches as well as chasing the local fishermen with their boats away from their inherited traditional beach areas used to store and maintain their fisher-boats.
Waves and beaches is a scientific topic that is sufficiently covered in scientific papers or books to know what to do and what to LEAVE around beaches. Everything has its price - greed and selfishness in business as well. In some cases as Bauang Beach area the price may be a total loss of all beach and all beach related tourists.
