Hotel Holiday is in the center of Kota Kinabalu - near harbor, near shopping, near main post office, near 2 internet cafes, near a dozen or more various restaurant - local food, Indian food and little Italy - a fine Italian Restaurant ...
with other words just about near everything you might need during the one or few days of your visa journey out of Philippines.
the hotel is clean, the staff very friendly, the rooms clean, and perfect for a few days.
I had a deluxe room, standard rooms were full, with 80 Rm per day - some 24 US$ - the price is certainly OK for a hotel in the center of city.
Deluxe rooms - approx 12 sqm - have a small fridge with minibar, TV w/o remote, a small desk to work, bath tub with cold and warm water and aircon and IDD phone. all you need for a short stay.
while the price is comparable to the prices of our well known Hotel Swiss Chalet - Angeles City - the overall quality of Kota Kinabalu Hotel Holiday is worlds and dimensions below Swiss Chalet - however it is a visa trip city hotel totally adequate for all average traveler!!
If Hotel Holiday should be full - which happened today - you will find several other smaller and larger hotels within easy walking distance around Hotel Holiday - from Hyatt Hotel to many cheaper hotels, the choice is yours. Enjoy and have fun - Kota Kinabalu is much cheaper visa trip than any other choice you may have, the flight merely 2 hours on Air Asia from Clark to Kota Kinabalu, the custom formalities after arrival here fast and friendly. my swiss passport got a free 3 months visa at the airport Kota Kinabalu upon arrival here and the taxi ride from airport to city just a very few km - may be maximum 10-15 minutes and Rm 15 with a friendly old driver in a left hand drive car.
all in all a pleasant alternative destination for those who wish to make a minimum out of country visa trip.
