SMTP connections using smartwifi in the Philippines - port 25 to outside SMTP servers blocked by ISP - use SMTP.smartwifi.com.ph as SMTP server for sending email
a newer DSL provider in the Philippines is smartwifi - a branch form smart cellphone. smartwifi connects via regular wifi to the nearest smart cellphone tower - via a parabolic antenna and offers a DSL broadband connection of 256 kb/s at a price around 1000 PHP per months flat rate
some hotels are connected via smartwifi
as a hotel guest - using your normal SMTP settings you will notice that the access to YOUR own SMTP server is blocked / ort 25 in smartwifi to the rest of the world is blocked for whatever reason..
hence
you can
- surf
- ftp
- SSH
- telnet
- pop
- ICQ
- etc
but for SMTP / sending email OUT you have to reconfiger your eMail client to use the smartwifi SMTP server
Here the smartwifi - SMTP server settings
SMTP server:
smtp.smartwifi.com.ph
NO authentication as the smartwifi-customer - your hotel or whoever operates the wireless hotspot or LAN via smartwifi has to authenticate when logging in to smartwifi DSL - and all users of that LAN/wlan then have free access without further authentication - thus NO SMTP after POP !! just direct SMTP usage.
God bless
