Hotel Swiss Chalet Angeles City sacks employees for asking higher salary

Swiss Chalet - Swiss management / owner rules: If you are unhappy with the tiny salary and ask for legal minimum wage you get sacked - just like in old times of master / slavery cultures ...

Hans Hofmann - Owner and Chef of Swiss Chalet paid only 215 PHP per day instead of the legal minimmum wage of 287 PHP

According to witness reports by 3 of the sacked hotel employees of many years of service to the Hotel/Restaurant Swiss Chalet, 4 ( 5?) long time employees of the "famous" Hotel/Restaurant Swiss Chalet Balibago / Angeles City / Philippines have been sacked on December 17th 2007. Reason: They asked for salary increase. A totally justified request! The legal minimum wage set by the Department of Labor and Employment of the republic of the Philippine islands is adjusted for the Province Papanga to currently PHP 287 - Hotel employees however only had a meager pay of PHP 215. I personally met / interviewed 3 of the 4 sacked Swiss Chalet employees. The 3 had together 11 children to support - hence their request for a salary increase after having served Swiss Chalet for years and been exploited by the Swiss Hotel owner Hans Hofmann appears absolutely justified. It is a shame for a Swiss entrepreneur to exploit poor and needy ones to increase his personal gain and increase of wealth.

The sick combination of greed and stinginess - to pay as little as necessary and to profit as much as possible ... is a thousands of years old method used by richest ones to exploit poverty for personal gain - to grow richer and richer and make the poor ones poorer and poorer.

The tourism in the Philippine islands only remains cheap to foreigners because of such exploitation of poor ones by rich entrepreneurs like in this case of Hotel Restaurant Swiss Chalet. While normally hotel owners pay legal minimum wages, only few pay honest ( higher than minimum ) wages and a rare few ones such extreme underpay as in Swiss Chalet. Such extreme exploitation is a tragic case of sick greed combined with equally sick stinginess.

Our own wealth never should be earned at the expense of others !

What can we do to avoid such exploitation ?

A lot! We ourselves decide day by day where we eat, sleep or spend out money - and thus it is our all power to decide which business may prosper and which may have to shut down for inhuman / unethical behavior.

• In our own environment and life we may offer honest salary - hence salary far above legal minimum wages to allow all those who help us to do our work or business to afford a decent human life and enjoy a quality of life as we wish to enjoy. The dignity of our fellow employees is equally valuable and equally important as our very own dignity in life!
• Business, hotels, restaurants or tourist enterprises that are known for exploitation of employees should be avoided and instead we should patron those enterprises and business who treat their employees with dignity and pay honest salaries to meet our needs!
• We need to be ready to pay more for your needs in order to offer all those serving us a descent life in dignity and equal comport as we wish to live.
