Many among us love gardening - I do since my early childhood - tropical gardening with the rich colorful and fast growing tropical flowers and plants of the Philippine islands may even be more rewarding and easier than in most other cooler countries of the world. However many gardens have at least a dry corner or area with dry soil, sandy soil, gravel, rocks or stones.
Instead of attempting to irrigate all such areas, instead of moving soil into dry gravel areas of your garden - learn to use the natural beauty of sandy corners of your property by adding a true stone garden with cactus, succulents and other dry soil plants. After studying a little this topic, you may be amazed how many colorful blossoming plants exist that love just that dry stony soil you may have.
Below are a few stone garden pictures for your inspiration how a stone garden corner may look. Most cacti have a very rich blossoming season. Other plants that love dry sandy or gravel bottom are the Portulaca flowers shown in my photos from Cagsawa Ruins.
