Rice - major food source for an entire nation

Climate would be ideal for many other much easier to grow quality food, vegetables, fruits and many other food resources grow much easier and with far less efforts and work than rice, yet the traditional food starts and ends with rice. From breakfast to diner almost nothing is eaten without a major portion of rice.
