Your limits for house construction are small houses you could even build all on your own with a couple of friends - paid all cash instead of paid by mortgage. If you live happily without any bank loans, mortgages and credit cards - then no global crisis of any kind can ever directly affect you - even less destroy your life by foreclosure, etc.
