While producing a similar or much larger total quantity of vegetables or fruits would be much easier, many Asian countries such as the Philippines still are attached to daily meals mainly consisting of rice and a little extra such as eggs, fish, chicken, pork or beef. Hence rice plantations still are among the most important sources for food.
