Almost like in late fall when all leaves turn colorful before falling - here in the last week of the 5+ months lasting dry season all trees are quiet dry and many trees have no more leaves.
Just a day later the first repeated and heavy rain started to initiate the rainy season. A few weeks later all trees start to grow new fresh green leaves and all islands will be covered again by rich, lush tropical growth.

No wonder it is the cleanest lake in the Philippines - I have been SCUBA diving in many high altitude lakes in Austria and Germany - also in several Florida springs. Kayangan lake can easily match in purity and exceed in clarity and UW visibility any of the clearest lakes I ever experienced. Kayangan lake may well be one of the worlds cleanest lake.

Without knowing what temperature to expect - the temptation for a swim is far big and I dive into the crystal clear water. Surprise surprise - I expected may be biased from mountain lakes a cooler water but hit a bath tub like warm water of about 32-34 degrees centigrade.
Fresh water - because I tasted it of course a pretty large lake with corners - just perfect for a swim, one lake one swimmer.

If you come here during dry season - then plan sufficient time for a long swim. If you are a good swimmer, take a few hours and swim around the corners to the left and right.
It is a good idea to start your boat trip to Coron island a few hours earlier. Typical tourist trips start around 9 AM in Coron City - I asked my Captain to start much earlier to have free vision and the joy of silence in God's purest and most beautiful nature.
If you are too late, then you may meet dozens of red life-jacket wearing tourists.

Small fish in Kayangan lake

About 5-8 cm long, swimming just below the surface most of the time. During my relatively short visit at Kayangan lake I had no sign or proof of larger fish living here. Most likely the fresh water is far too warm and thus the oxygen content too low for most fresh water fishes. Remember - the warmer the water the less oxygen absorbed in the water. Trouts for example would love such clear water but would require a cold temperature below 16-18 degrees Centigrade to really feel comfortable.
There are tropical fresh water fish that can live in waters above 30 degrees Centigrade - but just a little warmer and the fish come out ready cooked !!

Absolutely NO - I am living and working in some of the most beautiful countries and islands on this planet since many decades now - many months non-stop sun shine and blue skies and blue water - but at absolutely no time did the beautiful weather ever get boring.

Extended periods of time being fully submersed, swimming or playing in the water for up to several hours a day can be most relaxing and cleaning for your entire body - inside and outside. However you need to chose really pure water. Most lakes in Europe are far too polluted for therapeutic use - equally are most ocean waters around Europe far too polluted to be of any therapeutic value for mankind.

Simple life preserves nature - simple life supports nature and lets you live in a healthy and powerful natural environment. Nature is huge - huge enough to offer us shelter, food and ample fun - but nature also is fragile enough to be killed by tiny humans violating nature day after day.

I remember decades ago in a mountain lake in Austria during a SCUBA dive in a natural environment ...
All we found was junk, household machineries, appliances by the dozen simply dumped into the lake during the past many decades.

Children can enjoy the infinite complexity of nature - adults are too limited in their perception to absorb or to be aware of the beauty and natural wonder of nature.
Have you ever attempted to explore a few square meters of nature - all parts of it, from smallest animals, bugs, worms, flowers, stones, ... Then you may know how many years it may take to do so - and how much longer it takes to explore one single planet.
Some 20 years ago I once participated in a scientific project of marine biology with a group of my divers - to extract tiny small segments of the ocean soil by means of UW air-sucking devices used for such purposes -like an UW vacuum cleaner. Each diver contributed to this team work. Each dive focusing on a small area of less than one square meter surface and some 20-30 cm depth.
Later at the surface all our surfaced bottom material was cleansed and prepared for the lab and then inspected by our professor and all our dives. Thousands of small, smallest and larger animals, shells, and micro organisms in just a smallest single area of ocean bottom .....
Imagine the wealth of live on the entire ocean or the wealth of life in a single island jungle in the Philippine islands or elsewhere.
