Light weight, mostly made of local, natural material and a price of around 1000 US$ - this type of boat is fast, safe, fun and easy to handle as well as easy to maintain.
Some boats are heavier and slower like those in the Maledives - others like the Philippine style sail boat are very lightweight and fast.
A typical Philippine sailboat like the one shown in this photo can be pushed ashore by the crew of 3-4 and carried on to land by 4-6 men. This type of boat can easily be disassembled into its major components for easy maintenance and safe storage during stormy days or Taifun days.
